Our Interview with Enric Rovira

What motivated you to open a chocolate business?
Mi familia tenia una bakery en Barcelona y allí descubrí que el chocolate podía ser un buen aliado para desarrollar mi pasión creativa. Era un ingrediente delicioso con el que podían hacer una gran diversidad de productos que además, y a diferencia de la mayoría de productos de pastelería, era muy comercializable y exportable.

English: My family had a bakery in Barcelona and there I discovered that chocolate could be a good ally to develop my creative passion. It was a delicious ingredient with which they could make a wide range of products as well, and unlike most bakery products, was very marketable and exportable.

Did you have any formal training in chocolate making?
Yo aprendí de la mano de mi padre y en algunos cursos puntuales y el resto fue aprendizaje a base de libros, pruebas, y muchos errores.

English: I learned from my father's hand and in some specific courses and the rest was based learning books, tests, and many errors.

Where do you get your inspiration for the different flavors and textures you include in your chocolates?
En muchos sitios y de maneras muy diferentes. Pasándomelo bién comiendo, visitando ciudades y países, viendo películas, escuchando música… trabajando.

English: In many places and in very different ways. Having fun eating, visiting cities and countries, watching movies, listening to music ... working.

If you had to describe your product line in a couple of sentences, what would that be?
Son chocolates de calidad con diseño y concepto, creados en Barcelona.

English: They are quality chocolates and concept design, created in Barcelona.

What is your personal favorite out of all the products you make and why?
Para mi es muy difícil escoger solo uno ya que la mayoría de ellos tienen una pequeña historia. Pero normalmente siempre estoy entusiasmado con el último o los que están por nacer.

English: To me it is very difficult to choose just one as most of them have a little story. But usually I'm always excited about the last or the unborn.
